kapiers echt nicht - das encoding hatte ich auf dem alten server gemacht + upgrade des forums. wie müßte denn die kollation sein? utf_general_ci??? gibts ein sql-befehl um die konvertierung anzustoßen?

Nein, den gibt es leider nicht, da die Inhalte der Tabellen auch geändert werden müssen.

jetztige kollation ist latin1_german1_ci...
und musste eben mit Erstaunen feststellen, dass jetzt alles richtig angezeigt wird obwohl ich noch nichts geändert hab, außer utf-8 plugin deaktiviert...
werd auch erstmal nix unternehmen solange es geht...

bin grad am ersetzen der umlaute und kaufmännischen unds und bin in der mybb_sessions-tabelle auf einträge wie diesen gestoßen: /pages/forum/member.php?action=profile&uid=12 - muß dort das & auch ersetzt werden???

Hast du die Collation nun geändert?
In der Tabelle "mybb-session" sind folgende Felder "utf8_general_ci":

sid
ip
location
useragent

Wenn diese Tabellen konvertiert werden, in was möchtest du die "&"-Zeichen denn ändern? Das habe ich an deiner Frage nicht ganz verstanden.

na in &

die convert-enconding.php klappt auf dem server nicht (strato) - deswegen möchte ich in meiner backupdatei (.sql) alle ändern und dann die tabellen mit richtigen einträgen (also konvertierte) neu erstellen - kollation natürlich inklusive, sprich: latin1_german1_ci zu utf8_general_ci und charset latin1 zu utf8!
