Everything gets bundled up into a neat ZIP archive.
The ZIP lands in a folder called "Backup Plugins" inside your MyBB root, and you get a direct download link right there on the spot. That way you can grab a copy before trying out an update, or pack up a plugin to move it to another forum without hunting down each file by hand.
