Rotating Ads

A flexible advertisement manager for MyBB 1.8

Rotating Ads provides a native MyBB advertisement manager for displaying and rotating square or banner advertisements throughout your forum.

Advertisements are managed individually through the Admin CP. Each advertisement can have its own delivery rules, targeting, limits, and performance totals.

Advertisement Placement

The plugin provides two template variables:

Place either variable in any compatible MyBB template where you want that advertisement format to appear.

Rotating Ads does not automatically modify your page layout or force advertisements into predefined locations.

In-Page Rotation

By default, one weighted random advertisement is selected on every page request.

Administrators can optionally enable in-page rotation, allowing advertisements to change while a visitor remains on the same page. The minimum and maximum time between rotations can be configured.

In-page rotation requires JavaScript. Visitors without JavaScript will still receive the initial server-selected advertisement.

Campaign Controls

Each advertisement can be configured with:

• Delivery weight from 1 to 100

• Maximum impressions
  
  
• Maximum clicks
  
  
• Enabled or disabled status
  
  
• Country targeting rules
  

A value of 0 disables the corresponding impression or click limit.

Higher delivery weights make an advertisement more likely to be selected. For example, an advertisement with a weight of 5 will be selected approximately five times as often as one with a weight of 1 in the same eligible pool.

Country Targeting

Advertisements can be displayed to:

• All countries
  
  
• Only selected countries
  
  
• All countries except selected countries
  

Country codes use the standard two-letter format, such as:

Country detection requires the server or reverse proxy to provide one of the following:

The plugin does not send visitor IP addresses to an external geolocation service.

Performance Tracking

The Admin CP advertisement manager displays lifetime:

Tracked click URLs can optionally reveal the destination hostname:

The displayed hostname is informational. The redirect is always resolved from the advertisement’s saved database record, preventing URL parameter tampering.

Metrics are intended as lightweight operational statistics. They do not store visitor identities and should not be considered billing-grade or bot-filtered analytics.

Upload the contents of the Upload directory into your MyBB installation root.
